One-touch operation assures precise centering of stock to pass line and setting of any twist angle.

III. Types of Delivery Twist Roller Guides

1. Oil-type – Universal Standard Adjustment Delivery Type

These Twist Roller Guides are used for Finishing and intermediate stands. A simple One-touch adjustment mechanism For setting gap between rollers, ensure precise, symmetrical and coaxial opening and closing of roller gap. Twist Guides are inserted in Guide Box and are interchangeable independently without changing the Guide Box.

2. DS-type – Single Adjustment Standard Delivery Type

These Twist Roller Guides are used for roughing and intermediate stands. In these Twist Roller Guides an Eccentric Roller Pin for setting roller gap symmetrically independently adjusts each roller.

Other features are the same as those of DU-type.

2. Roller Holder

1) Roller Holder heads below DU100 type can be fixed and removed from the Guide Box by hand.

2) For fixing and removing of Roller Holder heads of types over DU 130 type, use a chain block.

Assembly:

1) The gap between the hole of the Guide Box and cylindrical surface of Roller Holder is very small. Therefore, proper care should be taken when the Holder head is inserted into the Guide Box, so as not to have any axial deflection. If the Roller Holder is inserted incorrectly by force, it will be difficult to take out.

2) Grease the contact surfaces of the Roller Holder head and the Guide Box before assembly. After assembly, feed sufficient grease from the nipple again.

3) After use, to make the removal of Roller Holder from Guide Box easy, wash off scale first and turn Roller Holder by Twist Pinion and then remove the Roller Holder without force.

4) Take necessary precautions and care not to damage (scratch, scrape, etc.) these contact surfaces of Guide Box and Roller Holder. If any scratching, scraping etc., occurs, repair such damages early by grinding.

3. Twist Guide

A. Inner Type Twist Guide: for DU-S. DS-S Type

1) Twist Guides are fixed together by two Fixing Bolts. Therefore, it is easy to insert and to remove.

2) When inserting Twist Guides into Roller Holder, Feed grease to Fixing Bolts and tapped holes sufficiently for easy removal and to avoid rusting.

B. Open Type Twist Guide: for DU, DS Type

4) Twist Roller

* Taper Roller Bearing and Dust Seal Numbers are given in assembly drawings.

Disassembly Procedure:

a) Remove Adapter Nut, Corn Disc Spring, Plate Washer and ’0′ Ring.

b) Remove Eccentric Piece and pull out Eccentric Roller Pin, then remove Twist Roller.

c) Remove Thrust Ring and Shim set In Roller Holder.

d) Remove Inner Bearing Ring by tapping from inside at the opposite side. Thrust Washer and Dust Seal are removed at the same time.

e) Remove Dust Seal from Thrust Washer.

f) Remove Outer Bearing Ring In Twist Roller by tapping from Inside at the opposite side.

Assembly Procedure:

a) Insert Outer Bearing Ring into Twist Roller.

b) Insert Inner Bearing Ring into Twist Roller and then insert Dust Seal into Thrust Washer with open side up.

c) Set Thrust Ring in Roller Holder. Apply grease to make setting easy.

d) After assembly of Twist Roller in Roller Holder, check for “no gap”.

e) Insert Shim inside of Thrust Ring to fill the pp. if needed.

f) Insert Eccentric Roller Pin by tapping softly.

g) Insert Eccentric Piece, adjust the key way with Eccentric Roller Pin and insert Eccentric piece.

h) Assemble ’0′ Ring, Plate Washer, Corn Disc Spring and fix Adapter Nut tightly.

Assembly and Disassembly of larger size Twist Rollers:

Keep Roller Holder in a horizontal position. Fix not allowing if not to turn. Pull out Eccentric Roller Pin, and remove Twist Roller keeping roller in a horizontal position.

Assemble in the reverse order.

5. Center Pinion

One-Touch Adjustment Mechanism

Disassembly Procedure:

a) Remove Center Metal Fixing Dolts

b) Remove Center Metal and Cent re Pinion

Assembly Procedure:

After assembly of Center Metal and Center Pinion insert Eccentric Roller Pin.

a) Loosen Push Bolt and pull out up to a point where it does not touch Center Pinion.

b) Fix Centre Pinion to Roller Holder.

c) Fix Centre Metal.

d) Fix lightly Centre Metal Fixing Bolts to Roller Holder.

e) Tighten Front Centre Metal Fixing Bolt Fully first.

f) Then tighten Side Centre Metal Fixing Bolt fully.

g) Insert Eccentric Roller Pin taking care of Eccentric Indicator position, and assemble Twist Roller.

Note: 1. It is necessary to adjust Eccentricity Indicator to the centre of Centre Pinion. Then make centre distances equal on both sides, and adjust centre of stock with pass line.

2. Assemble Centre Pinion first and then insert Eccentric Roller Pin.

3. A suitable maintenance program should be planned to keep parts and guides in a good service condition.

6. Twist Pinion

Assembly, Disassembly and Adjustment

  1. Twist Pinion and Twist Pinion Shaft are fixed together by a Spring Pin Their assembly or disassembly can be accomplished by inserting or removing the Spring Pin.

2. Spring Pin should be inserted in such a way so that it does not get into one side Check also that it docs not come out from Twist Pinion bottom and strike.

  1. Shaft hole and Twist Pinion hole for the Spring Pin arc drilled together for smooth insertion of the Spring Pin. Therefore, when assembling, adjust the holes, so that they coincide axially and (hen insert the Spring Pin.
  2. Do not disassemble Twist Pinion and Twist Pinion Shaft unless it is absolutely necessary.
  3. To lock (he Twist Pinion, two different methods are used. One method is the use of a Push Bolt. The other is the use of a Lock Nut with a Corn Disc Spring One of these methods will definitely be used to lock the Twist Pinion.

7. Holder Nut

Disassembly Procedure:

a. Loosen Fixing Bolt and remove.

b. Turn Holder Nut anticlockwise using Holder Nut tapped holes and loosen.

Assembly Procedure:

a. Assemble Holder Nut by turning clockwise using Holder Nut tapped holes.

b. Tighten fully first, and then loosen a little.

c. Adjust upper and nearest tapped hole of Holder Nut and Roller Holder. Fix with Holder Nut Fixing Bolt.

V. Roller Holder Twisting Mechanism

Adjustment of Roller Holder Twist Angle:

1. Determination of Twist Angle

Determine the Roller gap (F) first, and then the Roller Holder Twist Angle.

2. Procedure for adjusting the Twist Angle.

Twist Angle can be adjusted by turning the Twist Pinion on top of the Guide Box.

Adjustment of Twist Angle:

1. Refer the drawings and check the actual value of 0 given in the instructions.

2. Adjust the Twist Angle accordingly. Check with the scale for angular measurement provided on the Guide Box.

3. Fix the Roller Holder with the two bolts provided for this purpose, after making sure that the Twist Angle is correct.

Correction of Twist Angle during Actual Rolling:

During operation, actual stock sizes change from the design value. Therefore, actual stock size changes should be taken into consideration and Twist Angle should be adjusted accordingly. Check the entry angle at the feed point of rolls and make necessary corrections.

When the Twist Pinion Ratchet Handle is turned backwards, Roller Holder will move in a clockwise direction.

When Twist Pinion Ratchet Handle is turned forward, Roller Holder moves in an anticlockwise direction.

VI. Twist Roller Centering Distance Adjusting Mechanism

Adjustment Procedure:

1. First, make sure the Position of Eccentricity Indicator.

Eccentricity Indicator should be set adjacently on the side of the Centre Pinion and not away from it.

2. Insert Gauge Bar between Rollers.

3. Adjust the Roller gap to suit the Gauge Bar.

4. Make the final adjustment of Twist Roller gap.

The Gauge Bar should touch the rollers LIGHTLY.

If Roller gap becomes too small and the Gauge Bar is tightly pressed between Rollers, make the gap wide open and then readjust.

Adjustment by using Gauge Bar:

Use of Gauge Bar ensures easy adjustment. Make the Gauge Bar according lo the instructions given in the assembly drawings.

Relationship between direction of Centre Pinion rotation and Twist Rollers gap:

Direction of Centre Pinion rotation: Twist Rollers gap

a. Clockwise Closes

b. Anticlockwise Opens

VII. Check List

Procedure for checking guide boxes before fixing onto a roll stand:

1. Cheek whether the Guide Is the correct Guide for the given stand.

2. Insert the Stock Gauge and check whether the Roller gap is properly adjusted.

3. Check whether the angle of twist is correct (Check the angle on the Angle Indicator)

4. Turn the Twist Rollers and see whether they turn smoothly.

a. Check for any play on the Rollers.

b. Check whether grease comes out from the bearings.

5. Check whether the bolts are tightly fixed.

On-Line Check procedure of Guide Boxes:

1. Check whether the Guide Box is properly aligned with the groove (caliber)

2. Check whether Rest Bar Clamp is tightly fixed.

3. Check whether there is sufficient cooling water.

4. Ensure once again that there is sufficient lubrication grease.

5. Re check Roller Holder Twist Angle.

III. Types of Entry Roller Guides

EP-type Roller Guide (Single Guide Roller)

Each Roller holder has one Guide Roller. One-touch operation ensures the holding of stock perfectly. Stock will be fed to the rolls smoothly. These Roller Guides are used in Gullet, Tandem and nil other types of rolling mills.

One Fulcrum Pin fixes the Roller Holder. Entry Guides can be removed and replaced.

Design and Construction of Entry Roller Guides

Characteristics and Special Features

  1. One Fulcrum Pin fixes the Roller Holder.
  2. Roller Holders are fixed on die oilier side of the Guide Box.
  3. Entry Guides can be interchanged independently, without changing the Guide Box.
  4. One-touch adjustment of Roller gap.

Special Features of EP-Type Roller Guides

  1. Water, scale and oilier dirt do not enter the Guide Roller Bearings. The Dust Seal can control overflowing of grease.
  2. Roller Holders arc fixed on the outer side of the Guide Box. Therefore, assembly, disassembly and maintenance become very easy.
  3. Roller Holder are made of special steel and has very high both elastic strength and toughness. They are of flexible plate. Roller Holders possess high resistance for shock, impact, and stresses caused owing to looping, falling of stock, etc.
  4. Entry Guides can be changed independently.
  5. One-touch adjustment of Roller gap.

1. Guide Box.

2. Roller Holder

Disassembly:

a. Loosen Roller Holder Fixing Bolts.

b. Loosen Tension Spring Fixing Bolts and lift and remove the Tension Spring.

(Do not remove the Fixing Bolts completely to ensure the bolt not getting lost.)

c. Loosen Fulcrum Pin Fixing Bolts.

d. Remove Fulcrum Pin.

e. Remove Roller Holder.

Assemble in the reverse order.

3. Entry Guide

Disassembly:

1) Loosen Entry Guide Fixing Bolt.

2) Remove Entry Guide

(Guide Bar will also be removed at the same time.)

Assemble in the reverse order.

4. Guide Rollers and Bearing

Bearings are fitted into Guide Rollers.

EP25 and below – Gall Bearing type

EP40 and over – Taper Roller Gearing type

Disassembly procedure:

  1. Remove Key Plate.
  2. Remove Roller Pin. (tap from bottom)
  3. Remove Guide Roller.
  4. Remove Thrust Ring and Shim from Roller Holder.
  5. Remove inner Rearing Ring and Dust Seal and Thrust Washer by tapping from opposite side.
  6. Remove Outer Bearing Ring by tapping from opposite side.

Assembly procedure:

  1. Insert Outer Bearing Ring into Guide Roller.
  2. Insert Inner Bearing Ring into Guide Roller and then, insert Dust Seal into Thrust Washer with open side up.
  3. Set Thrust Ring in Roller Holder.
  4. Insert Guide Roller into Roller Holder.
  5. Insert Shim between Thrust Ring and Roller Holder, if needed.
  6. Use the Shim to see that there is no gap.

(Several adjustments may be necessary to determine the correct thickness of Shim.)

  1. With the use of Shim, ensure that there is no gap and then fix Guide Roller.

Precautions to he taken in assembly and disassembly of Guide Roller:

  1. Ensure that lip of Dust Seal faces outside.
  2. Apply sufficient grease to all parts, before fixing the Guide Roller.
  3. If a hammer should be used for assembly or disassembly, use a nylon hummer or use a piece of light metal on top of the part lo be hammered.

Instruction for changing Taper Roller Bearings;

  1. Change Outer and Inner Bearing Rings simultaneously.
  2. If a used bearing is to be fixed, clean it thoroughly before use.
  3. Taper Roller Bearings of different makers have different taper angles. Therefore use bearings of the same maker.

5. Centre Ratchet

Disassembly:

  1. Move Ratchet Handle and remove Screw Spindle from back.
  2. Loosen Key Bolt and remove from key way.
  3. Loosen Screw Spindles (left and right) find remove the Screw Spindles.

Assembly:

1. Make Sure that Key Bolt is not in key way.

2. Insert the Ratchet Handle and hold.

3. Insert Screw Spindles from outside of right and left brackets. (Right Screw Spindle from right bracket and Mt Screw Spindle From left bracket.)

4. Using finger, insert Screw Spindle into Ratchet Wheel, (left and right – make sure of sides)

5. Make sure that “e” is equal from both sides. Arrange key way to face bottom so that key can get in from bottom.

6. Check again whether “e” is same on both sides.

7. Insert the Key Bolt into key way.

VI. Guide Roller Adjustment Mechanism

Description

When the Ratchet Handle is moved, Left Screw Spindle and the Right Screw Spindle move in opposite directions. Forces P1 and P2 are applied due to this moment. Thus, Roller Holders are opened or closed.

Instructions for Operation and Application

Selling of Screw Spindles:

When looking in the direction of rolling, (Guide Roller in Front), Right Screw Spindle should be on tile right side and Left Screw Spindle should be on the left side.

Gap adjustment procedure:

Make “e” same on both left and right sides. Depending on the movement of the Ratchet Handle, the Roller Holders will cither open or close the Roller gap symmetrically.

Operation of Ratchet Handle:

  1. When the Ratchet Handle moves forward, the roller gap closes. When it moves backward, the Roller gap opens.
  2. Loosen the Roller holder Fixing Bolts and move the Ratchet. If the Fixing Bolts are not loosened before moving the Ratchet Handle, there will be very big sirens on the Roller Holders. This might cause damage.

Standard Guide Roller Distance Adjustment Procedure

1. When the Ratchet Handle is moved forward, the Roller gap closes. When it is moved backward, the roller gap open.

2. Adjust the Roller distance using the Gauge Bar.

VII. Roller Gap Adjustment

Roller Gap Adjustment depends on:

1. Stock size

2. Shape of stock

3. Type of rolling (Tandem, Gullet, V-H with no twist or H-K with twist)

4. Distance from roll stand to roll stand.

5. Length of loop.

6. Speed of rolling.

7. Others

Entry Roller Guides take all the above-mentioned factors into account and ensure smooth and stable operation. Changes of stock size that occur during rolling should be taken into consideration. The best procedure to adjust the Roller gap is to lake into consideration the above-mentioned factors and set the gap according to your experience in the mill.

Roller Gap Adjustment:

1. Gauge Bar lightly [ouches (lie roller, (zero holding)

2. Roller gap smaller than the Gauge Bar. (minus holding)

3. There exists a small gap between the Rollers and the Gauge Bar (plus holding)

VIII. Check List

Important features of assembly, disassembly and adjustment:

1. Check and make “e” same on both sides to ensure that Roller Holders move symmetrically. (Same distance)

2. The bolts are delicate and make sure they are handled properly to ensure that no damage is done.

3. Before assembly, grease the parts well. After assembly, feed grease again through the flexible hose.

4. Ensure that bearings turn smoothly, and see that water, scale, etc., do not get into the bearings.

5. There is no necessity to disassemble the Ratchet Mechanism at an early stage. Apply grease sufficiently well to the Ratchet Mechanism.

6. In case there is a gap between Ratchet Wheel and bracket, insert Shims.

7. When moving Ratchet Handle, loosen Roller holder fixing Bolts. If not bracket will wear and brake.

1. Menghidupkan DC Motor.
Apabila sub C point 1 dan 2 sudah ok, dilanjutkan dengan:
I.    Posisi Individu (Individu Operation System).
1.      Pastikan posisi C.O.S (Changer Over Switch) ke posisi Jog.
2.      Pastikan nilai Potensio (Speed Control Rpm) pada nilai 0 (nol) Rpm (untuk pengamanan acceleration motor saat run).
3.      Tekan Push Button ON masing-masing motor dan lampu signal ON akan menyala, kemudian “adjust” (setting Rpm) masing-masing motor sesuai permintaan.
