III. Types of Delivery Twist Roller Guides
1. Oil-type – Universal Standard Adjustment Delivery Type
These Twist Roller Guides are used for Finishing and intermediate stands. A simple One-touch adjustment mechanism For setting gap between rollers, ensure precise, symmetrical and coaxial opening and closing of roller gap. Twist Guides are inserted in Guide Box and are interchangeable independently without changing the Guide Box.
2. DS-type – Single Adjustment Standard Delivery Type
These Twist Roller Guides are used for roughing and intermediate stands. In these Twist Roller Guides an Eccentric Roller Pin for setting roller gap symmetrically independently adjusts each roller.
Other features are the same as those of DU-type.

2. Roller Holder
1) Roller Holder heads below DU100 type can be fixed and removed from the Guide Box by hand.
2) For fixing and removing of Roller Holder heads of types over DU 130 type, use a chain block.
Assembly:
1) The gap between the hole of the Guide Box and cylindrical surface of Roller Holder is very small. Therefore, proper care should be taken when the Holder head is inserted into the Guide Box, so as not to have any axial deflection. If the Roller Holder is inserted incorrectly by force, it will be difficult to take out.
2) Grease the contact surfaces of the Roller Holder head and the Guide Box before assembly. After assembly, feed sufficient grease from the nipple again.
3) After use, to make the removal of Roller Holder from Guide Box easy, wash off scale first and turn Roller Holder by Twist Pinion and then remove the Roller Holder without force.
4) Take necessary precautions and care not to damage (scratch, scrape, etc.) these contact surfaces of Guide Box and Roller Holder. If any scratching, scraping etc., occurs, repair such damages early by grinding.

3. Twist Guide
A. Inner Type Twist Guide: for DU-S. DS-S Type
1) Twist Guides are fixed together by two Fixing Bolts. Therefore, it is easy to insert and to remove.
2) When inserting Twist Guides into Roller Holder, Feed grease to Fixing Bolts and tapped holes sufficiently for easy removal and to avoid rusting.
B. Open Type Twist Guide: for DU, DS Type
* Taper Roller Bearing and Dust Seal Numbers are given in assembly drawings.
Disassembly Procedure:
a) Remove Adapter Nut, Corn Disc Spring, Plate Washer and ’0′ Ring.
b) Remove Eccentric Piece and pull out Eccentric Roller Pin, then remove Twist Roller.
c) Remove Thrust Ring and Shim set In Roller Holder.
d) Remove Inner Bearing Ring by tapping from inside at the opposite side. Thrust Washer and Dust Seal are removed at the same time.
e) Remove Dust Seal from Thrust Washer.
f) Remove Outer Bearing Ring In Twist Roller by tapping from Inside at the opposite side.
Assembly Procedure:
a) Insert Outer Bearing Ring into Twist Roller.
b) Insert Inner Bearing Ring into Twist Roller and then insert Dust Seal into Thrust Washer with open side up.
c) Set Thrust Ring in Roller Holder. Apply grease to make setting easy.
d) After assembly of Twist Roller in Roller Holder, check for “no gap”.
e) Insert Shim inside of Thrust Ring to fill the pp. if needed.
f) Insert Eccentric Roller Pin by tapping softly.
g) Insert Eccentric Piece, adjust the key way with Eccentric Roller Pin and insert Eccentric piece.
h) Assemble ’0′ Ring, Plate Washer, Corn Disc Spring and fix Adapter Nut tightly.
Assembly and Disassembly of larger size Twist Rollers:
Keep Roller Holder in a horizontal position. Fix not allowing if not to turn. Pull out Eccentric Roller Pin, and remove Twist Roller keeping roller in a horizontal position.
Assemble in the reverse order.
5. Center Pinion
Disassembly Procedure:
a) Remove Center Metal Fixing Dolts
b) Remove Center Metal and Cent re Pinion
Assembly Procedure:
After assembly of Center Metal and Center Pinion insert Eccentric Roller Pin.
a) Loosen Push Bolt and pull out up to a point where it does not touch Center Pinion.
b) Fix Centre Pinion to Roller Holder.
c) Fix Centre Metal.
d) Fix lightly Centre Metal Fixing Bolts to Roller Holder.
e) Tighten Front Centre Metal Fixing Bolt Fully first.
f) Then tighten Side Centre Metal Fixing Bolt fully.
g) Insert Eccentric Roller Pin taking care of Eccentric Indicator position, and assemble Twist Roller.
Note: 1. It is necessary to adjust Eccentricity Indicator to the centre of Centre Pinion. Then make centre distances equal on both sides, and adjust centre of stock with pass line.
2. Assemble Centre Pinion first and then insert Eccentric Roller Pin.
3. A suitable maintenance program should be planned to keep parts and guides in a good service condition.
6. Twist Pinion
- Twist Pinion and Twist Pinion Shaft are fixed together by a Spring Pin Their assembly or disassembly can be accomplished by inserting or removing the Spring Pin.
- Shaft hole and Twist Pinion hole for the Spring Pin arc drilled together for smooth insertion of the Spring Pin. Therefore, when assembling, adjust the holes, so that they coincide axially and (hen insert the Spring Pin.
- Do not disassemble Twist Pinion and Twist Pinion Shaft unless it is absolutely necessary.
- To lock (he Twist Pinion, two different methods are used. One method is the use of a Push Bolt. The other is the use of a Lock Nut with a Corn Disc Spring One of these methods will definitely be used to lock the Twist Pinion.
7. Holder Nut
Disassembly Procedure:
a. Loosen Fixing Bolt and remove.
b. Turn Holder Nut anticlockwise using Holder Nut tapped holes and loosen.
Assembly Procedure:
a. Assemble Holder Nut by turning clockwise using Holder Nut tapped holes.
b. Tighten fully first, and then loosen a little.
c. Adjust upper and nearest tapped hole of Holder Nut and Roller Holder. Fix with Holder Nut Fixing Bolt.
V. Roller Holder Twisting Mechanism
Adjustment of Roller Holder Twist Angle:
Determine the Roller gap (F) first, and then the Roller Holder Twist Angle.
2. Procedure for adjusting the Twist Angle.
Twist Angle can be adjusted by turning the Twist Pinion on top of the Guide Box.
Adjustment of Twist Angle:
1. Refer the drawings and check the actual value of 0 given in the instructions.
2. Adjust the Twist Angle accordingly. Check with the scale for angular measurement provided on the Guide Box.
3. Fix the Roller Holder with the two bolts provided for this purpose, after making sure that the Twist Angle is correct.
Correction of Twist Angle during Actual Rolling:
During operation, actual stock sizes change from the design value. Therefore, actual stock size changes should be taken into consideration and Twist Angle should be adjusted accordingly. Check the entry angle at the feed point of rolls and make necessary corrections.
q = Roller Holder Twist Angle
When the Twist Pinion Ratchet Handle is turned backwards, Roller Holder will move in a clockwise direction.
When Twist Pinion Ratchet Handle is turned forward, Roller Holder moves in an anticlockwise direction.
VI. Twist Roller Centering Distance Adjusting Mechanism
Adjustment Procedure:
1. First, make sure the Position of Eccentricity Indicator.
Eccentricity Indicator should be set adjacently on the side of the Centre Pinion and not away from it.
2. Insert Gauge Bar between Rollers.
3. Adjust the Roller gap to suit the Gauge Bar.
4. Make the final adjustment of Twist Roller gap.
The Gauge Bar should touch the rollers LIGHTLY.
If Roller gap becomes too small and the Gauge Bar is tightly pressed between Rollers, make the gap wide open and then readjust.
Adjustment by using Gauge Bar:
Use of Gauge Bar ensures easy adjustment. Make the Gauge Bar according lo the instructions given in the assembly drawings.
Relationship between direction of Centre Pinion rotation and Twist Rollers gap:

a. Clockwise Closes
b. Anticlockwise Opens
VII. Check List
Procedure for checking guide boxes before fixing onto a roll stand:
1. Cheek whether the Guide Is the correct Guide for the given stand.
2. Insert the Stock Gauge and check whether the Roller gap is properly adjusted.
3. Check whether the angle of twist is correct (Check the angle on the Angle Indicator)
4. Turn the Twist Rollers and see whether they turn smoothly.
a. Check for any play on the Rollers.
b. Check whether grease comes out from the bearings.
5. Check whether the bolts are tightly fixed.
On-Line Check procedure of Guide Boxes:
1. Check whether the Guide Box is properly aligned with the groove (caliber)
2. Check whether Rest Bar Clamp is tightly fixed.
3. Check whether there is sufficient cooling water.
4. Ensure once again that there is sufficient lubrication grease.
5. Re check Roller Holder Twist Angle.
